Simgot ET1000 is the only full-size headphone model from the Chinese brand Simgot at the time of writing. Several previous models, which I talked about earlier, left me a very pleasant impression, both in terms of build quality and materials, and sound quality. However, with the ET1000 model, things are not so simple.
Simgot started with low-cost dynamic models, but soon expanded its lineup. Simgot ET1000 is a full-size isodynamic model that was presented with quite big ambitions.
Packaging and equipment
The headphones are equipped with a 2.15 m cable. The connector is a 3.5mm jack, threaded for a 6.3 mm adapter. The headphones come in a large stylish black box. The package is covered with artificial leather, the logo is made in a high-quality laconic metal plate. In addition to the headphones themselves, the set includes a cable, an adapter, and an additional set of ear pads. Each object is housed in a separate fabric case. Headphones in such packaging look expensive and elitist, so they can be an excellent gift for a loved one, friend or colleague.
Appearance and ergonomics of the product
Design is the point that manufacturing companies pay special attention to, regardless of the model’s budget. ET1000 headphones fully confirm this statement: they have a stylish and distinctive design, special attention is drawn to non-standard cups. Metal was chosen as the material for their production, however, due to the coating, it is indistinguishable from plastic to the touch. A slim, elegant grille lends a futuristic appearance.
In addition to the grilles, each cup is equipped with a cable connector (no clips). The base is made according to the classic design. The cups can be extended to adjust the size of the headband. The construction is covered with high quality textured leatherette. The cable included in the kit deserves special attention: the design of the cable is laconic and authentic; for additional reliability, it is covered with a braid of fabric, but over time it begins to shaggy.
Thanks to the clever design, using the headphones is very comfortable for users. The base fits freely on the head, the cups do not press against the ears too much, do not create additional pressure. Despite the rather large weight, the weight of the product is not felt, we can say that the model is practically invisible. An important advantage is the well thought-out design of the ear cushions. Thanks to the angled modification, the ears do not sweat or get tired, which makes the model ideal for home use. However, the lack of insulation creates some disadvantage, the sound is very well heard not only inside the cups, but also from outside. Therefore, this model is not the best option for the office or the street.
The sound of the model can be called more dynamic than classic. In my opinion, the priority is not the detail of the sound, but the volume and scale, the character of the sound is quite dense. The frequency response is flat; as an additional advantage, a good scene can be noted with decent depth and adequate dynamic range.
It is the sound density that was mentioned above that has a significant effect on low frequencies. However, if in other dynamic models the volume is close to the speed, here the developers have pumped up a little. Headphones cope with compositions where complex musical instruments are present, but if it becomes necessary to play a fast melody, they become a problem. The sound becomes too thick, the tones overlap. What about the midrange? The model has the most even mid-range sound, in some situations you can notice that the model brings additional emotions, but this does not spoil the overall impression. A controversial place in the sound character of the presented headphones is the upper frequency response zone.
Sound elements such as attenuation are greatly simplified. It is also worth saying a few words about the genres that are most relevant to the model. The Simgot ET1000 headphones are a great choice for music with few instruments and a melodic sound. They should definitely be discarded if you like aggressive and dynamic genres. But if you prefers chamber genres, classics, symphonic melodies – headphones will be an excellent purchase. Also, this model is versatile in recording quality and audio sources. No additional listening power is required.
The Simgot ET1000 has both positive and negative sides. So, it is recommended to test the product before purchasing to see if it will suit you.
